Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Conversion Training Manager to join our team.

The One Air Conversion Training Manager, will be responsible to the Director Flight Training (DFT) and Deputy, for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs for One Air. Responsible for enhancing employee performance and professional development through effective training initiatives whilst ensuring safety and CAA regulations are consistently adhered to and trained at the highest of standards.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities of the role:

  • Safety Culture: Safety is at the core of everything we do, assist the DFT with enhancing and promoting our safety culture and performance across the training program and wider flight operation. Ensuring a just culture and openness is built in throughout our training programs, we won’t compromise on safety.
  • Training Program Development: Design and develop training programs that align with our department’s strategic goals and objectives. Identify training needs through assessments and collaborate with our DFT to create targeted training plans.
  • Training Delivery: Supervise or conduct engaging and impactful training sessions using a variety of methods such as classroom instruction, virtual platforms, workshops, and e-learning modules. Adapt training techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and optimize knowledge retention. Promote training excellence.
  • Supervise Content Creation: Develop high-quality training materials, including presentations, handouts, job aids, and multimedia resources. Ensure content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Monitoring Training Progress: Tracking the progress of trainees, providing support and guidance as needed, and ensuring that training objectives are being met.
  • Training Evaluation: Implement evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of training programs. Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments to enhance training outcomes. Conduct simulator assessments and checks on individual pilots on our initial and recurrent programs.
  • Training Administration: Guide and assist our Pilot Training Planning Officer with all logistical aspects of our training programs, including scheduling, venue arrangements, candidate administration, and tracking training records. Help maintain accurate documentation and records of training activities.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with external training providers and subject matter experts to source and evaluate external training resources. Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality training offerings. Liaise with our External ATO and offer support or guidance where necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Help lead a team of trainers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Learning Technology: Stay updated on the latest learning technologies and tools. Leverage technology platforms to deliver innovative and efficient training solutions, such as our learning management system (LMS) and virtual reality (VR) training.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure training programs comply with company and CAA regulations, and industry standards. Stay informed about relevant industry changes and update training materials accordingly.
  • Cost Management: Assist the DFT by optimising resources and exploring cost-effective training solutions whilst still fostering a learning culture without compromising quality.
  • Continuous Improvement: Staying updated with industry trends, new training methodologies, and technologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of training programs.

Key skills , knowledge, Experience required: (i.e. those required to fulfil the role, including qualifications):

  • Airline Transport Pilots License with 747 and /or 777 TRI/E or SFI/E.
    • Proven experience as a Training Manager or similar role.
    • Great knowledge of legal and compliance requirements related to training and development.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
    • Strong instructional design and training delivery skills.
    • Proficient in using various training methodologies and technologies.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
    • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to gather and interpret data to measure training effectiveness.
    • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.

The role will require flexibility with travel between training venues and potentially flying duties however the training commitments will take a priority.
